A Risk Assessment is a systematic examination of what has the potential to cause harm to anyone (your workers, contractors, visitors, members of the public, etc) within your workplace.
What is a Risk Assessment?
Why do I need a Risk Assessment?
As an organisation, you have a legal duty to protect the Health, Safety and Welfare of your employees (& anybody else) who may be affected by what you do.
To fulfil this duty, employers & those in control of premises must conduct a Risk Assessment of their premises & work activities to identify potential causes of harm and to take reasonable steps to control them & in turn reduce the likelihood of accidents or ill health.
If you have 5 or more employees, you must keep a written record of the Risk Assessment.
While conducting your Risk Assessment you should cover the elements which are available via the Health & Safety Executive’s (HSE) online guidance in their document Five Steps to Risk Assessment.
Do I need outside help to conduct my Risk Assessment?
No, using the online guidance from the HSE you can create a risk assessment yourself. As with all business disciplines you should ensure your workers are competent to carry out the Risk Assessment.
Where do I get help if I do not feel competent to carry out my own Risk Assessment?
We can help & are very happy to discuss what you need.
We are capable and competent providers of workplace Risk Assessments.
Risk Assessments produced by ourselves follow the HSE’s guidance and will be created with you in consultation throughout the entire process.
We are listed on the Occupational Health & Safety Consultants Register, which can be accessed either directly by following the link or directly from the HSE’s website via the link there.
