Accident & Incident Investigations

Unfortunately, Accidents and Incidents do happen.

What’s most important for you as a business or premises owner is having a robust accident reporting policy in place. That means if an Accident or Incident within your workplace or at your premises does occur, you have what you need in place to properly produce a report and do everything you can to prevent it happening again.

We can help, by partnering with ourselves we can guide you through the reporting process (if it is applicable to your situation).  More importantly than the initial report being made, we can assist you to risk assess your work activity or your premises, create safe working practices and develop policy where this is necessary.

Accidents, reports of ill health and incidents may require reporting under what is termed as RIDDOR (the Reporting of Injuries Diseases & Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013).

Reporting under RIDDOR is a legal process with reporting times to comply within. Reports made under RIDDOR are made to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and may be followed up by either the HSE or Local Authority Inspectors dependant upon your business sector.  It is important that you have your information ready should the inspector request it.

If your situation requires reporting under RIDDOR we will let you know and help and support you report what you need to and by when.

Most frequently reports to RIDDOR are made when;

  • There is an absence from work for over seven days when the absence is attributable to an accident, ill health or incident at work.
  • Some work related diseases (such as reports of hand arm vibration syndrome, occupational asthma, etc).
